INTIMATE COSMOS

It all begins with a moment of light: a ray of sunlight passing through the iris reveals unsuspected, almost cosmic, contours in the mirror. From this revelation is born a fascination with the iris, this miniature universe where matter, light, and mystery intertwine. Through large circular pastels, some reaching a meter in diameter, I choose from the outset to enlarge the infinitely small to an extraordinary degree in order to reveal to its owner the hypnotic depth of their iris. Often, they are unaware of all its details, paying it no attention. Yet, exploring them reveals many surprises! Fascinating in its complexity beneath an apparent simplicity, each iris is a unique portrait. It is a world of captivating contours, which challenge us with their power and diversity. The iris then becomes a celestial body, an autonomous world, on the border between the human body and the cosmos. To paint an iris is also to paint a landscape: valleys, precipices, milky streams, all studded with obstacles, caverns, and enchanting craters. A celestial cartography unfolds, an inner landscape where one thinks one recognizes galaxies, volcanoes, oceans, or stellar glimmers. Mirrors of the soul, these nebulae draw us into ineffable adventures, alternating between chaotic whirlpools, tumultuous turbulence, and the deceptive calm of marshes. Strange or familiar forms seem to emerge from a fantastical nature or, conversely, from a very real world: one can lose oneself in the rippled depths of the sea or in the flames of hell, caress the plumage of a bird with one's gaze, or settle in the heart of a flower.
Over ten years ago, a ray of sunlight passing through an iris transformed my vision. In that fleeting reflection, I discovered unsuspected contours, intimate landscapes previously unseen. This moment of revelation marked the starting point of my artistic work.
Since then, I have been painting irises of eyes in pastel, in monumental formats — up to one meter in diameter — in order to invite a plunge into this miniature universe. Enlarged, the iris becomes a celestial body, an organic cartography, an inner cosmos where matter, light and movement mingle.
The circular form naturally emerged in my work. It runs through my pieces as if self-evident: eye, planet, cell, mandala. For me, the circle symbolizes unity, origin, infinity, and echoes the very structure of life and the universe.
My approach is rooted in a particular attention to what is often overlooked. I seek to reveal the hidden beauty of reality, especially in nature, to gather these invisible fragments and transform them into evocative works of art. To paint an iris is to offer its owner the rediscovery of an intimate, often overlooked treasure.
Today, after exhibiting some forty canvases, my gaze has shifted: I see eyes everywhere. In landscapes, materials, natural elements. The whole world becomes a surface for projection, a mirror and a gaze all at once.
GALLERY

Sensual and captivating, pastel has proven to be an ideal medium for showcasing the beauty of the iris. Its ethereal texture is perfectly suited to conveying its depth and transparency, suggesting a mysterious inner world.
My artistic approach revolves around the representation of the iris, considered as a territory that is both intimate and universal. By isolating this part of the eye, I deliberately move away from portraiture to focus on what, in the gaze, eludes any explicit narrative. The iris then becomes an autonomous pictorial space, an almost abstract form where textures, chromatic vibrations, and organic movement intertwine. Each painting explores the singularity of this element, unique to each individual, while revealing what they all share: a complex, fluid, living structure. Painting the iris means questioning the boundary between inside and outside, between what is visible and what is felt. The gaze is no longer a tool for recognition but a place for projecting emotions and contemplation. The viewer is invited to lose themselves in it, to see something other than the eye itself. Perhaps a memory, a landscape, or a reflection of their own inner self. My work is part of a sensitive exploration where painting becomes a means of slowing down the gaze, suspending time, and opening a space for silent encounter between the work and the one who contemplates it.
"I observe you out of the corner of my eye, then I gaze at you with a little more intensity to discover, deep within your eyes, the wonders of an extraordinary miniature universe: that of your irises. They radiate emotions whose strength you cannot suspect. You don't know it yet, but they hold many surprises for you. I am here to explore them and reveal to you the beauty of their hypnotic depths. Embark on a journey with them and discover their treasures."

SHE AND HIM
If you wish to give a personal and unique gift, to mark a special moment, or to preserve a cherished memory, please contact me to discuss your project. I combine my artistic visions to create "irresistible" objects, such as my cardboard lace mobile, which is both a reflection of a gaze (or two gazes, one on each side) and a decorative and contemplative work of art.

FAMILY PORTRAIT
Another popular type of mobile is the creation of a portrait of an entire family's irises painted on CDs. These obsolete circular supports, bearers of memory, form a moving and delicate collection, remaining a sensitive and endearing testament that never grows old.
